Festivities

Here are some pictures from two fun events from the past week, for a change! Last time we did something like this was early March for my birthday so guess who has been excited about seeing people (and having good food)?

Last Saturday we gathered at Anna's to celebrate Hege and Marie's belated birthdays. We started the day by celebrtaing Hege...

... with a brunch consisting of soft foods for her braces. It was seriously one of our best brunches ever, and I know I say this every time but this time we (Anna, mostly) outdid ourselves. We enjoyed the most delicious chocolate mousse made from avocade, a delicious sunflower seed paste, hummus, fresh frut, and tofu scramble, among others. For drinks I made a mimosa with a twist consisting of prosecco, Anna's homemade strawberry syrup and juice. Yum!

In the late afternoon we got ready for Marie's birthday with a gin class! It was so much fun, we had booked a class through Airbnb which I can highly recommend.

After the class we had a Libanese inspired dinner that was out of this world tasty. Falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, veggies, sweet potato... So glad we all enjoy the same food haha.

Two days later it was time to celebrate the 17th of May. If you are not familiar with it, it is Norway's national day - a very big and important day here in Norway! I can only wish that we would celebrate it like this in Finland. The day starts of early, at 10 or 11 usually, when friends/families gather for a champagne breakfast that basically goes on for the rest of the day. We celebrated with Anders and some of his friends in Oslo and it was such a great day. Above you see the "pastries" I prepared. Nothing fancier than a Swiss roll (rulltårta/rullekake) with cream and berries on top - but notice the colors of the Norwegian flag, hehe.

Three happy girls who had, in honor of the day, dressed up to match the flag together. As we don't have the traditional Norwegian dress, the super expensive and beautiful "bunad", this was the best we could do.

Some more dessert. I also made donuts that were very popular, or donut holes as they are apparently called. Such a fun day with great people!
